Kill Each Other Over Soap
HUNTINGTON, W. Va., March 13 - Quarreling over a piece of soap, Joe Thompson became enraged at his lifelong partner, Jim Gaines, in their cabin tonight and fatally shot Gaines. The latter grappled with Thompson and in the struggle secured a butcher knife and cut Thompson's throat. Gaines dragged the body of his dead companion 300 yards and threw it into the Tug river. He then crawled nearly a mile to the cabin of a neighbor, where he is now near death.

TRAGEDY OVER CAKE OF SOAP
One Man Killed and Another Dying at Welch, W.Va.Huntington, W. Va., March 13 - Quarreling about a piece of soap, Joseph Thompson to-night became enraged at his lifetime partner, James Gaines, in a cabin near Welch, W. Va., and discharged a loaded shotgun into Gaines' side, inflicting wounds that will prove fatal.
Gaines secured a butcher knife and cut Thompson's throat. He then dragged Thompson's body 300 yards and threw it into Tug River, and crawled nearly a mile to the cabin of a neighbor.
